For those of you still undecided about which console to buy, here is a brief breakdown of each console.
I have been reading an interesting article which compares, in detail, the 3 next generation consoles. I have summarised the scores here with a link to the actual article at the bottom. Interesting reading??
Overall winner was the PS3 - but read the article yourself for the true picture.

Cheers Wilko. I think this just confirms what everyone thought.
I've been waiting ...and waiting ...and waiting for the PS3 but I can wait no more.
I've ordered a 360
Its an interesting article.
Basically, the PS3 CPU is better then the 360's - but only slightly. And the graphics in both machines are about the same.
The only thing that makes the PS3 significantly better is a) the inclusion of Blu ray and b) the media centre capabilities of the PS3 are better than the 360.
But on that note, you will pay an extra £150 for the PS3. Is it worth it? don't think so.
And the Wii is a non starter. Good for the kids, but rubbish for adults who want their games to be a bit more advanced.

On the current reviews of Blu-ray, i'm with you, the media format puts a win for Sony, which given the larger capacity was obvious, but the delays have been because of blu-ray not working - with reviews showing that the HD-DVD media format is the majority of the time the better format i'd think it wise going for the, no doubt to be announced, Xbox360 + HD-DVD bundle and saving a couple of quid.
The Xbox360 has had a year to gain strength and with alot of the revently announced games - appears to have the larger drawing power with regards to games (right now, Sony really has it's brand name on it's side - which is obviously what they are banking on)
I can see some major problems with the PS3 come launch, i think it's wise waiting maybe a year or so before splashing out (within a year it'll probably be cheaper and Sony have stated they'll gradually update their hardware inside the PS3 during it's lifespan) - early adopters will be paying over the odds for something which is not tested hardware in the mass market.

Its seamless. On the xbox, you had to manually sign in to it. But on the 360, it just does it, connects you, downloads any updates for the games, gets high scores, uploads high scores, updates achievements - its just superb.
It's what puts the 360 miles ahead of the competition. PS3 just can't compete because microsoft have the experience to make an online service work - I mean, thats their main business ain't it?
PS3 - great hardware because of Sony.
360 - great software and infrastructure because of microsoft.

I might buy the PS3 as well. Its a beautiful piece of kit, and from what I've heard will be a complete home entertainment system (much like a media centre PC but better).
But I don't fancy the £450 tag for, like you say, untested hardware. And you have to worry about the bluray, seeing as though thats why the release date has been pushed back so far.

I'd have to say the complete opposite there. Everyone I know is very excited about the Wii and eagerly awaiting it's release, including a friend who came second in the pgr3 national tournament. Everyone's waiting in the hope that the ps3 will be good, but no-one is excited about it anymore. The offordable Wii will mean just about everyone I know will end up owning one. And you can't say games won't be advanced when they have more control related tools at their disposal. This has the ability to be a game designers dream for exploration

OK, the Wii has novelty value. But for sheer power, the 360 and PS3 kick its ass into next week.
Once the novelty has worn off, I think that people will get tired of the controller and crave a "normal" one like the 360 or PS3.
Add to that the fact that online play is very poor on the Wii and its extras are very basic - I see it as being a console for kids.
I just think that after a week or two, adults buying the Wii will start to regret it. Just my opinion.
