This weekend, I was told by a GAME insider , that several stores have stopped taking pre orders for the wii, and most are to follow suit soon! Their small outlets have performed 5 times better than when the 360 came out and their larger stores have taken hundreds of pre-orders, one store which took 30 xbox pre-orders has taken 147 wii pre-orders There will be twice as many wii's as there were 360's but with figures like this, how long before they sell out? If your in any doubt, go to your local game or gamestation and ask 'how many they have pre-ordered?' Also if you have a pre-order slip from game, look at your pre-order receipt and see what number you are!
'The ps3 is dead before it's began,' is the buzz from most of the managers, well only time will tell this. I remember the dreamcast vs ps2, we all know the result of that This time however, the price is in question and not the ability to play dvd's

I have pre-ordered a Wii. Not that I want one, because I already have a 360, but I may as well "speculate to accumulate" and make a few quid on eBay.

Or I may get bitten in the bum and sell at a loss. But its worth a gamble.

I think the PS3 will die in Europe and the US. Its basically going to be too late, most people will either have a 360 or Wii by April next year - and with the HD-DVD player for the 360 being pitched at £130 and a price cut on the way, how will the pS3 compete?

Granted, the 360 has bombed in Japan - this is where I expect the PS3 to dominate. But the current reductions on the 360 in Japan (£100 for a premium pack with PGR3 thrown in??) could get a few hundred thousand more into japanese homes before the PS3 launch.

And given that HD -DVD seems to be winning the current format war, given that it is backwards-compatible with DVD and has a large back catalogue already available compared to Blu-Ray's pathetic offerings, I can only see one winner at the moment.

But things can change daily.......

I pre-ordered from play on this one but I am sorely tempted to cancel and get a 360. Te spec is obviously a lot higher on the 360 and hopefully by now the consoles will have been altered enough to get over the early problems. Also with the impending release of the High Def DVD player add on which is a bargain price if you consider the cost of a standalone player then I think that might just swing it for me...

Can't be bothered waiting for a PS3. Might just hang on for a 360 bundled with Pro Evo Soccer and an extra controller... :wink:

Absolutely - the PS3 is undoubtedly a higher spec machine, but the 360 is still a hugely powerful beast. The processor is a triple core, with each core running at 3.2ghz - wow. My only gripe is that the 20gb hard drive is pathetic - it should have been at least 80gb. But apparently a 100gb upgrade is coming very soon.

I think the early problems with the 360 are well and truly sorted now. My machine is an August 2006 model and I'm very happy. Sounds liek a bloody vacuum cleaner when the DVD spins up for games though however I just turn up the home cinema system and get awestruck by the 5.1 Dolby digital surround and the 1080i HD visuals. And life is good again.

I know what you mean, is it all hype or will they sell out.
I'm going by what I see and hear and the word is it's going to be big! The thing is, parents at all the schools are saying 'you can forget it, at that price!' about the ps3 and say 'We'll see about the wii!' under £200 or over £500, it doesn't take much to work that one out. kids are not really interested in HD or dvd players these days, gaming and the all important word FUN is what they really want!
The big kids are after the top specs, and your HD, HARD DRIVES and DVD players, it's a bit of a peeing contest , while they are looking who can pee the furthest, who has the biggest they are not really noticing what Nintendo can do with theirs size is not important here!

the official word from NINTY is 'there will be shortages.....there won't be enough to go around!' If you are in the top 10 in store at GAME or Gamestation, you should get one :grin:
