DVD to AVI

Can anyone recommend a "free" DVD straight to AVI ripper?

Need to be able to select the main film or extras that I want and for it to rip and convert straight to AVI (pref DIVX).

TA.

Re: DVD to AVI

Somebody else on the forum (Lambyuk) recommended CloneDVD mobile to me and I have been using it ever since, mine are converted into avi. There is a free 21 day d/l on their own website which I used to try it out but I now have the programme.

Hope this helps SB.

CloneDVD mobile converts your DVD movies quickly and easily into a format that your portable device (Sony PSP, Apple iPod Video, iAudio X5, Creative Labs ZEN Vision, etc) can play. You can also convert your DVDs to other file formats, such as DivX, XviD, AVI, MP4, etc.

Cheers Moe/Leigh.

I've found another one called ImToo which converts straight to virtually anything - only does 5 mins in the trila - but tested it and the conversion works fine on my PSP in avi format.

Will check out CloneDVD too though.

Re: DVD to AVI

Just found a site called "giveaway of the day" that gives away free software every day.

Today's free software is Aimersoft DVD Ripper, which does exactly what you want.

Re: DVD to AVI

After some extensive testing (courstesy of a keygen) with it yesterday IMTOO satisfies my requirements. Takes just over and hour to rip a 2 hour film straight to AVI (or virtually any other format) so it will work with PSPlayer on the PSP (480x272 at 25FPS coded at a BR of 512mb it converted the film to about 400mb ish without any noticeable loss of quality when played back on the PSP. It's really versatile as you can change virtually every setting within a profile and then save it for future use. Highly recommended.
