Running Vista on the new Medion 8822 PC and if I leave Bitcomet running - after a certain amount of time - maybe 30 mins - it disconnects from the Internet and reboots the machine which is most strange.
Anyone got any ideas as all the inactivity timesouts I know of are disabled.
No idea what that is, but have read elsewhere of problems with Bitcomet & uTorrent on vista
No other programs cause the crashing?? Had you tried uninstalling & reinstalling Bitcomet, there could have been an error on the first install or trying another client like Azeraus??

Well confused.
Do you have any kinds of powersaving schemas active? (such as turn off something after 30 min)
Bigger probs yesterday as the PC lost both optical drives. Arggghhh
Did another factory reset, printer wont install now, despite it supposedly being incompatiable I had it working before, now it wont install. Not good when the kids are in the last term and coursework needs doing.
Going to do another factory reset tonight, disable all Windows updates and try to get it working. If it does, fine I'll get Office Home (as previous Offices' I've installed cock up the PC even more). If not it's going back to the shop and I'll rebuild the old PC. BitComet now is the least of my worries.

Why don't you create a second partition, and install XP on the second partition so at least you can continue to use the PC while you attempt to fix the Vista issues.
I'll take a wild guess and assume that XP is compatible with Vistas boot menu.
You can probably just install it, and Windows should pick up on the extra windows installation on it's own
and add it to the boot menu.
Yep, I would guess it would be compatible - Microsoft are not so stupid as to change this.
Grab something like "Partition Magic" and create a seperate partition first (there are also some freeware options available, search google and you'll find loads of them). Then install XP, which should automatically pick the correct partition (if you choose the NEW INSTALLATION option when you put the CD in the drive. Everything so far should be able to be done from within Vista).
Once setup starts, it will reboot and continue the installation of XP, which should only take about 20 or 30 minutes. After completion, you will get a boot menu which SHOULD default to XP. If not, you can edit the boot menu to specify your default boot partition.
I would NOT recommend using the built in DOS FDISK program. Whilst it is very reliable, it will completely wipe out any data that already exists on the drive. Partition magic will keep existing data intact (in theory).
they will be separate if u do what wilko and tuck have said
