Looking to get our son a digital camcorder for his birthday but only upto £100.

How old is your son?
I would imagine they will be pretty poor..but ok if its just for his entertainment.

25 this month - he just wants it to get used to shooting stuff, uploading it - editing it and publishing it online - in readiness for if he gets to 6th form and does media studies.

I'd make sure whichever you get has an optical zoom included, not just a digital zoom. The first looks like it might but isn't enough info on the site. Also with having only sd cards etc for memory he'll want a whole load of them cos 1gb is only about an hours recording

I think an hours recording is more than enough from what he's talked about using it for. But yes the optical zoom is a must have.

the ones u are talking about are like the ones that are always advertised in the back of newspapers/magazines , not even worth £5

for £100 , u wont get anything , but real budget and near £100 , something like this , u may even get it cheaper , this is the first place i looked,
