Re: dvd recorder

the general opinion is go for a panasonic or pioneer - failing that a sony might do the job. if you're firm on the divx then i think that rules out buying a panasonic.

if you're going to use a scart to connect everything then make sure the recorder has rgb in/out - i know some samsung/lg and cheaper sony's fall foul of this. the importance of rgb in/out means that you'll be able to record off sky/freeview in the best possible quality.

have a look at the panasonic ex75/85.....pioneer 440/540/545.....sony 860

www.avforums.co.uk has an excellent dvd recorder forum if you get stuck.

Re: dvd recorder

See if you can find one with all that plus an internal freeview tuner - it will save loads of hassle.

Re: dvd recorder

made a decision and after weighing up the pro's and cons i have gone for the Liteon hd-a760gx

and have to say i am more than impressed it has handled everything I've thrown at it and the quality of the picture and sound beats my Sony player hands down...a few of the specs

250hdd
dvd+/- dvd+rw/-rw dvd+dl
divx
mp3/wma
dv link
timeshift
dts
and much much more all for less than £180

and it multi regioned to the easiest remote hack i have ever done full specs can be found here...
