I'd give them a call and see what they say. I'm hearing of more and more people having problems with Dell computers just outside the 12 month warranty sometimes a couple of days out. It can't be coincidence, can it? I'm sure they're fitting a mission impossible style self destruct program into their hardware
After 14 months I doubt they will replace the battery.
Batteries are considered "consumables" and are only expected to last a relatively short time. They are obliged to replace within the 12 month guarantee, but you probably haven't got any chance of a new one after 14 months.
In fact, the battery on my works laptop (an HP Compaq nx7300) failed after 6 months, and they wouldn't even replace it then (inside the warranty period!!!)
This thread reminds me our Dell laptop is nearing the end of it's 12 month warranty and we are gonna try to get a replacement battery as the current one is crap. Worth a phonecall.
They will not do it. My pc £3000 worth, packed up yesterday, Glad I took out the warranty .... They are coming to get it tomorrow. They even left a message on the phone saying they will disconnect it and pack it up!
My advice- take out the warranty!
