Agreed leave it as it is and i also think that Hamilton would not want the world title that way.

Always next season

Hamilton might not feel too great about winning the title that way...but I suspect he could get used to going down in history as the first Rookie to win the Driver's Championship. 20-30 years from now no-one will be that interested in How he won...just that he did. A bit like the way Ferrari won the Contructor's Championship this year. I hope he does win it 'on a technicality' as that would even up the title distribution for this year....and really wind up Ferrari

I'm pleased.

Can't wait to see how the drivers cope next year with no traction control or other electronic driver aids. Wet races will really show up who's good and who isn't.

I`m glad they lost the appeal, not only becasue I dont like McLaren but becasue if they did win the appeal and the title had changed hands it would have made a mockery of F1 and the FIA.

Next season will be interesting. It was better without all the driver aids, now we need slicks back.

I have to say that the McClaren fraud fiasco has already made a mockery of F1 and the FIA. The way Ferrari were able to keep going back until they finally got the result they wanted was a farce. I still want to know how much McClaren data went to Ferrari in what must have been a two-way exchange. Of course, the FIA never looked into that aspect of it as they were only under orders to find Ferrari data at McClaren. I think both teams should have been kicked out of the championship...but that would never happen to Ferrari :(

I agree. I wonder how many teams will be trying to persuade Michael Schumacher to return after his recent bit of testing ?

Only allowing one re-fueling would help.

As would random track side sprinklers.

Fernando Alonso signs Renault deal

Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso has rejoined Renault on a one-year deal.

Alonso is reported to have agreed a £25 million deal to make his return to the team with whom he won both his titles.

Former glory: Alonso won the world title twice with Renault

The length of the deal allows Alonso to consider a move to Ferrari in 2009.

Alonso has been linked with a return to Renault ever since he was released from his three-year contract with McLaren in November.

A move to the French team became more likely on Friday when motor sport’s governing body, the FIA, decided against penalising Renault for possessing confidential information about rival team McLaren.

The 26-year-old Spaniard finished third in the 2007 drivers' standings with 109 points after a turbulent season with the British team that included rocky relations with rookie driving partner Lewis Hamilton and a spy scandal that cost McLaren a £50 million fine and all of its constructors’ championship points.

Alonso made his F1 debut with Renault in 2001, going on to become F1's youngest world champion with the first of his two titles in 2005.

In 105 races entered, the Oviedo native has won 15 races and finished on the podium 49 times.

Reports also indicate that Nelson Piquet Jr is set to partner Alonso. Giancarlo Fisichella and Heiki Kovalainen drove for Renault in 2007. The veteran Fisichella has recently been testing for the Force India team.

Kovalainen, who impressed last year in his debut season, has been tipped as a potential team-mate for Lewis Hamilton at McLaren.
