Sunderland AFC

Any Sunderland fans on this forum?

I have had a Season Ticket at the SoL for a few year now and have to say that the Niall Quinn takeover, and appointment of Roy Keane as Manager is the highlight. Give a bit time and hard work, I believe that Sunderland can once again be back where they belong, in the top 6 of the Premiership!

All aboard Niall Quinn's Magic Carpet.

As a Newcastle fan, I hate Sunderland with a passion.

However, Sunderland need to be back in the premiership. The derby days are special, not like the pseudo-derbys that we have with that small club from Smogside.

But I think top 6 is a little optimistic - other than a brief spell there a few years ago, when have Sunderland been a top 6 club? Not like the mighty toon who used to live there.

USED to being the operative word wilko - infact 10 years ago newcastle were a top 3 team.

But i agree about the derbys - im not a fan of either team but its always good when they face each other, just like the old Everton vs Liverpool ones.

Sunderland were bottom at the start of the season with minimal points and no hope - its pretty amazing how Keane has transformed them into almost a playoff place by January.

2002-03 3rd. That's much less than 10 years ago.

The derby games even made Luque a hero.

Indeed. I think Sunderland are entering a period of relative stability where they can build on a solid foundation. The past decade they have been a club built on sand.

I think that Quinn genuinely loves the club and the fans, and will do what is best for Sunderland. And Keanne is showing the same passion and commitment that he showed as a player.

But I still hate them. Lets not lose sight of that fact.

I think to be classed as a top 6 side you need to do more than once which is even harder to do now that you've got the regular four of The Buns, ManUre, Arse and Liverplop and then its best of the rest which changes year in year out between The Barcodes, Spuds, Villa, Everton or one surprise - coincidentally of these lot only Newcastle were absent from the first year of the Prem.
