Well, let me get the ball rolling with a dedicated NUFC thread. I've noticed a few guys on here are toon fans.

You may have noticed that I am ever so slightly fanatical about NUFC. In fact I was a steward there until very recently (I couldn't get a season ticket because of the huge waiting list, so I thought i might as well get paid to watch my team play!).

Were any of you guys at Shearer's testimonial? Or did you watch it on telly? What do you think of Glen Roeder? Who are we gonna get to replace Big Al next season? And will little michael owen still be a newcastle player?

I went to the Roy Keane testimonial but stupid work got in the way of me going to the Shearer one.

It was a good game played in a good spirit though, he is the best striker the Premiership will ever probably see so it will be a big loss to the game, it must feel like it did for us Celtic fans when Larsson decided to bow out.

Yeah, I'm pretty gutted to be honest.

He's been a true legend for Newcastle, the premiership and England.

And Celtic played the game - they made it a competitive game but allowed the last minute penalty to let the big man bow out with a goal. Well done Celtic.

I was a season ticket holder for about 10 years. Living in the North West has meant family responsibilities prevent me from spending so much time travelling to matches anymore so I catch the odd game here and there now instead.

Alan is a one-off. A world class striker who gave up better opportunities to play for his club. "Living the dream".

I'll get interested in the world cup but I'm not very nationalistic. If Michael Owen missing the world cup keeps him at Newcastle and means he's completely fit for the start of next season, then I'd be happy to see it happen.

Yeah, same here. I am a Newcastle fan first, and an England fan second.

I would prefer to see england miss out if it means it is to Newcastle's advantage.

That said, i think Owen will be fine for the world cup - as long as they don't take any unneccesary risks with him, I have no problem with him playing.

Newcastle are my English team, always have been - so I like this thread!

There's always a lot of rumours fly around - one that I've heard up here (whoch sounds like rubbish) is that Owen has some kind of long term injury and is finished pretty much. Don't see much truth in it myself, but there you go.

So - Mirandinia (sp?) - genius or rubbish ?

Albert's goal against Man Utd - best Newccy goal ever ?

and those purple and burgundy striped away tops from the Ginola years - I want one !

Yes, yes and "I've got one of those!"

I used to buy all of the home and away shirts when they were reduced (when a new one was released) so I used to have every home and away shirt since about 1990. However, some have "been lost" when moving house etc, so I don't have many left now.

Cisse for Owen ...ok, it's a deal

Taylor's quite a decent player but not if you want to challenge for honours next season.

I really hope Michael 'My only team is England' Owen stays at Newcastle, he'll gain a lot more respect if he does.

Luque definitely needs another season cos he's shown glimpses of the great player he can be.

I'm surprised you want to keep Bowyer, I take it he's back to his Charlton and early Leeds form then?

You'd be silly to sell Milner ...though why he'd want to move to Villa is beyond me. :?
