I agree - Bowyer is a hard worker and a very skillful player. He was playing some great football at teh end of last season. The only problem is that he comes with baggage. Many Hammers fans may not accept him because of the nature of that baggage.

On a Hammers forum I use the split is 50/50.........personally my view is that Pardew wouldn't risk it if he felt there was an issue as the majority of our team are black.

It always happens - Newcastle make the first move, and the big boys step in and steal the player.
This is what happens for clubs who set their sights high.

Newcastle have lodged a firm bid of £6M for Dirk Kuyt after Owen's disastrous injury.
It looks highly likely that Newcastle will get their man, now that Liverpool have all but ended their interest after signing Craig Bellamy from Blackburn

When Spurs were going for Kuyt, they were quoted figures like £12m, if you can get him for £6m then I think it would be a great buy

I reckon it must be a player plus cash deal for £6m. Feyenoord won't let him go for less than £10m.
If Liverpool can offload Cisse I think they're still interested in Kuyt. We've got no chance if Mr Sheperd splashes the cash as we're skint

Also the FA are gonna compensate Newcastle for Owen, but doesn't say how much, although I think it was in a paper that Newcastle are gonna sue the fa and want something like £25m
But obvioulsly paper talk so aint worth the paper its printed on

Newcastle are guilty of doing this every year though ;) (and usually get their man by offering crazy amounts of money, that no other club thinks is worth paying).

I'd be amazed if you got him for that, certainly a great buy at the price, but when rumours were that he was getting offers of £10m+ last year, i find it highly unlikely they'll sell him for any less than that.

Absolutely - but an initial bid of £6M is still serious money. Remember, we only offered £8M initially for Owen, and ended up spending £16M.
The true compensation figure that Newcastle will receive for Owen will be £3M - enough to pay 75% of his wages for next season.
The reason that Newcastle are likely to get their man with Kuyt is that we are one of the only clubs in the world that still deal in cash. The selling club will get all of their money up-front, not in installments like liverpool proposed when they fancied Kuyt.
