ALFRED GOUGH SPEAKS ABOUT SUPERGIRL ON 'SMALLVILLE' - SEASON 7


Supergirl comes to Smallville

When iF got the word that Supergirl is going to be a part of Season Seven of SMALLVILLE, we couldn’t wait to find out more from co-creator and executive producer Alfred Gough.

Today he gave us a glimpse into what having Supergirl on the CW series will mean and that also includes the revelation of an appearance by the 1984 Supergirl herself – Helen Slater.

In the Seventh Season premiere, Supergirl (whose name is Kara) will arrive. She’s Clark Kent’s 19-year old cousin and was born on Krypton. She is the daughter of Zor-El, Jor-El’s brother and she possesses all of Clark’s powers and one he doesn’t have yet – the ability to fly.

ComicsContinuum.com reports that the actress who will be playing Kara/Supergirl will be introduced at Comic-Con International in San Diego.

Read below for iF Magazine’s exclusive chat with Gough about what the Seventh Season will bring.

Q: With Clark it's a no flight, no tights rule. For Supergirl, she's going to fly, but are you giving here the "no tights" rule too?

GOUGH: Kara will have flights, but no tights.

Q: Will Supergirl be learning her powers like Clark did during the season or will she be more advanced when we meet her than Clark and serve as sort of a mirror to Clark's evolution?

GOUGH: Kara will be more advanced, although there will be powers that Clark teaches her about and vice versa -- perhaps Clark will even attempt "flying lessons."

Q: Will we be seeing a Helen Slater cameo by any chance?

GOUGH: Our plan is to have Helen on the show sometime this season, although when, how and who she would play are still up in the air.

You expect real continuity in a US superhero series !!!!!???????????

Note. This info also appeared on the Radio Times news pages last week where it also mentioned that Kara sets her beady little eyes on Jimmy Olsen as a boyfriend...which does not bode well for Chloe

Yep but the Kara from season 3 was a normal human girl who was nearly killed by the meteor shower until Jor-El took her, robbed her of her humanity and given superpowers like Clark Kent. Kara was released from the Caves to entice Clark to join with Jor-El who then had her destroyed as she completed her task.

So it could be that Jor-el gave this human girl all the memories of Kara Zor-El from Krypton in order to fulfil her job in bringing Clark to Jor-El and maybe making Clark think that she was his cousin, the real Kara from Krypton. Clark was introducing her as his cousin from California but I think that was just to cover up to Lana who she really was.

I guess we will have to wait until September to find out where they are going with this storyline.
