"New topics" not working

Ever since the move to http://www.thebargainsforum.com, all posts are marked with a "new" icon (), instead of just the ones since my last visit.
Also, the "last visited time" is always off, it lists the current time and date.

Do others have the same problems, are is it just me?

Re: "New topics" not working

I found that the first time I signed in when we moved to the new server all the posts were marked 'new too' even ones that were old. I read all the recent ones and went to the forum index page and selected 'mark all topics read'.

Then when I signed in the next time it was only marking the new topics, 'new'.

Although maybe Moo can offer better techinal advice but it worked for me.

I find this very useful. I like to see all posts that I have not read. Before, as soon as you visited the page it cleared all posts so that next time you come you only see posts since last visit and not ALL UNREAD posts, which is how it works now.

Us mods really have to read pretty much every single post - and it is sometimes impossible to do it in one sitting unless you spend two hours trawling through. So the way it works now is much better for me.

Yeh, I prefer it too Wilko, if something happens and you have to close the window, or your pc crashes, it's definitely useful.

Re: "New topics" not working

Thanks for the replies.

If I understand you correctly, clicking the link, takes one to the first new post in a thread, since the last time you read that specific thread. This differs from the behaviour on the old forum, where the new icon took one to the first new post, since the last visit to the forum.

For me personally, this is the first time I encounter this type of forum behaviour. I see some advantages, but given the fact that I'm a creature of habit, it'll probably take some time getting used to it

Yep, I checked my CP before posting here. No option there for this functionality though.
But like I said, I see some advantages, and resetting all posts to marked, already made quite a difference

Re: "New topics" not working

I have upgraded the forum software to the latest version which had a patch in for the recent posts. I don't know if it will fix the problem tho.
