Online shopping research

Hello everybody,
I am a student at UCE birmingham and I am conducted a research about online shopping.
I have a few question to ask you and I would really appreciate if you could give me a few answers.

When did you start to buy cds and dvds online?
What are the main reason: prices? variety and quantity? Secure transaction? Easy than going out shopping? Fast internet connections?

Any infromation will be very useful.
Thank you very much.

Re: Online shopping research

starting buying i guess 5 years ago online maybe longer

its cheaper and easier than going out to the shop etc , takes too long going round the shops , easier to search loads of online shops than in the highstreet

Used to buy cd's online from 1998/1999 when at Uni through Whsmith but it was through a site that acted like an internet high street, you clicked on a shop and it sold a certain type of thing....cd's books etc but it was only for a few hard to find cd's didn't really get into internet shopping until 2002.

Signed up to cd-wow and play.com in early 2002 and haven't looked back.

I prefer the internet to high street as it is usually cheaper and it's handy having them delivered to your home and you can check prices without having to troll around 5/6 shops just to find the cheapest, although I do still shop in town I will only buy if the price is right or I need something in a hurry.

Hope this helps

Re: Online shopping research

Been buying online for about 6 years, possible more..

Main reason is price and convenience, online prices are nearly always cheaper, most have free delivery. You don't have to queue to get your items and at xmas time high st shopping is a nightmare...

Re: Online shopping research

i started buying online in 2001 when i first got the internet.
i buy mainly dvds and games, and its all down to 2 things - theprice, and the convenience. the high street is a bit better now, but back then things were hlaf the price of shops and in some cases still are, plus there is no bus fares and no hustle and bustle of the shops. im not very comfortable around a lot of people at the same time. plus it keeps me warm and toastie in the house all year long.

Another bonus of the internet, is that you are able to get Cashback from a number of places, and the availability of vouchers is much higher, eg HMV, nearly always have a £5 off £30 voucher about, etc.
