This might be a real Friartuck question but if anyone can put me on the right direction on this would be good!

There's a bit of a clampdown on parcels being sent from Jersey and Hong Kong at the moment to Ireland due to VAT issues (so companies that are normally safe are now not!) and apparently everything being sent from both are being stopped and individually customs checked :? to make sure the correct rate is being charged and then a handling fee also applied.

Am I right in thinking that CDWOW ship from different places - eg does the .ie/net site ship from somewhere other than Jersey and would .com and .us ONLY ship from Hong Kong? Basically, can you guarantee depending on which site you order from where your item might be shipped from? (hope that makes sense!)

all hong kong , everything i have ever received from cdwow from .com , .ie , .biz , .us and .net all comes from hong kong

dammit!!! For some reason I had it in my head that they that they ship stuff from Luxembourg for the EU sites (Why I thought that I dont know ) Makes my Superman Tin on pe-order look less tempting now

there maybe occassional things that come from some other places , by not very often .

im sure friar said they send stuff from luxembourg. im sure he will shed more light soon.

adult stuff comes from other places , but im positive regarding my comments.
i guess if they have problems with stock they may try to source from other places though

I've had a few cd-wow items posted from singapore but 99.9999% HK.


Sam, I always thought south of the border were always easy going with customs, are they clamping down now?

Yep, big time apparently MG, they are stopping anything from Play and checking it one by one as Play only pay the UK VAT and not the Irish rate so anything over 22 euro is getting hit with the VAT and a €5 admin fee.

Apparently they are going after all packages coming in from Hong Kong etc next. In fairness up and till last month I've never been caught for anything customs wise ever but doesnt surprise me they've finally copped on. Up to now have never even given it much consideration where anythings ever been posted from
