Store4dvd.com reliable?
Hi,
I recently placed an order with store4dvd.com. (For an item you get to pay horrendous costum charges if purchased from overseas. :) )
Shortly after the order was put on hold and I received an e-mail that they need the front and back of the CC or a CC statement for verification purposes.
So I faxed them the former. However the order is still on hold and I haven't heard from them ever since. (Sent them an e-mail asking if everything is alright - no answer)
Has anybody had similar experiences with this shop ?
Does anybody know if this shop is reliable?
Thanks

I have never heard of a company asking you to fax the front/back of your cc let alone a cc statement. Fax is one of the most unsafest medium to send documents, let alone highly confidential ID documents which could easily have been copied fraudulently.
Personally I’ve never used them before as they tend to be extremely overpriced. When date did you place your order?

Well, not long ago... last Sunday 06/08/2006.
However I received the "please send CC..." mail the same day.

I know from reading the import forums there is a online shop in Europe which asks you to fax over a copy of your credit card but I can not for the life of me remember the name. I will try and search for the thread for you.
It is a strange procedure ok. I would not want to do this.

It's not unusual for European shops to request copy cc statements, a copy of the card or even id cards or passports. Come to think of it I remember sending a cc statement to a US and Korean online store some years ago.
Instead of fax most places give a postal address to send the copies to but obviously verification can take longer.

'fraid I had a bum deal from these guys. They're based in Store Street, London hence the name. They sent me a couple of boxsets which arrived crushed/rattlers . Normally I'd put up with scratched discs but the boxes were well knacked and they argued about doing the exchange too. Bunch of muppets in my opinion.

Why are they listed in Jersey then? :?
Also, I thought it was illegal for any UK shop to be selling R1 dvds?? Something about the BBFC certificates although I may be wrong.

zootmonster , you are right about the illegality of U.K. high street stores selling material not certified by the BBFC i.e. Region 1 dvds.
However,it is not a priority for the authorities unless the titles are pornographic.
There is another place in London - 'The Cinema Store'
(I went there last year at the time of the frighfest festival to get George Romero's autograph on a Land of the Dead poster'
Anyway, I was surprised to see R1 dvds being openly sold. Especially on that day, as they were selling all the R1 George Romero Zombie special editions for people to get autographed.
