OK, I think it's important that we have a sticky to try and explain to people how the new DVDSoon rebate system works (from what we have seen so far).
I do not condone in any way what DVDSoon are doing, so USE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK.
1) In your account, you now have 2 sections - STORE CREDIT and REBATES.
2) REBATES are NON-REFUNDABLE. When you buy any item, you will be charged THE FULL AMOUNT of your order on checkout (NOT ON SHIPPING - their T&C's are incorrect). At this point, 50% of the item value (excluding shipping) will be removed from REBATES.
3) When your item is SHIPPED, the amount removed from REBATES on checkout will be moved to STORE CREDIT.
4) When all of your REBATES are used up, any available STORE CREDITS will be deducted from your order value ON CHECKOUT up to a maximum of 50% of the item value (exclusing shipping).
5) Alternatively you can request a CREDIT REFUND which will refund any STORE CREDIT back to your credit card in 21 days.
In this way, to convert $100 in rebates to store credit would cost you a further $200. If you then did not refund this store credit to your credit card, you would need to spend a FURTHER $200 to use up your store credit.
It appears that REBATES takes precedence over STORE CREDIT. So STORE CREDIT will not be reduced while REBATES exist. But that is just a guess, as no one has got to this point yet - I will update when I get further information.
If anyone can think of anything to add to this, please say so.

Hmm interesting - well if it works its worth the hassle, especially for your $1500 wilko! Have you tried a credit request yet? (as i assume you woudlnt want to wait for all the rebate to be used up!)

No. I haven't got any store credit yet, because they haven't shipped my stuff despite it being "in stock" when I ordered.
Can I clarify that this is the 50% of the rebate that they automatically take off your rebate section at the time of ordering that is just being re-transferred back to you in the form of credit? Does that make sense? :? What DVDSoon say and actually do are 2 different stories.
They say they won’t take the rebate until the item is shipped but according to people who have placed orders, the rebate is being taken off at checkout.

Yes, the rebate is taken off your available rebates at checkout HOWEVER it is not transferred to store credit until the item is SHIPPED.
wilko another question for you - if you did all the above and you successfully received your rebate transferred to store credit, does this mean that if you were to order again from them that rather than charging your card, at checkout the store credit would be used up (up to half value of whatever you're buying) and the other half would be charged to your card and then the whole shebang about when the title is ready to be shipped the 50% rebate will then move into the credit section again? i.e. allowing you to build up your store credit and then do a card refund when you have a large amount as opposed to requesting a card refund everytime you've got store credit, no matter even if it's for a few pounds.
I hope that made sense, I seem to be confusing myself the more I write/think about it. :)

I think that your store credit will keep accumulating until all of your REBATES are used up.
But that is just a guess. We will have to wait and see what peoples experiences are before we find out for sure.
Everything in the first post is based upon what I have read in about a dozen posts on various forums, all brought together in one thread.
THis entire mess started because DVD Soon, last summer, decided to move to changing to charging on SHIPMENT rather than order.
But you are saying that they are back to charging on ORDER?
Or is this the new company that bought them out, and they've changed back?
As a matter of interest, I'm trying to pursue details on company ownership to see if the new lot are just the old lot trying to ignore the mess they made last year.

Yes, they now charge on order. However, their FAQ and email templates still refer to charging on SHIPMENT. So it's all a bit messy.
It appears from information available on the internet (on several discussion forums) that there are links between DVDSoon and DVDImport going back many months, if not years. It has been suggested that a certain Veronique Vincent was involved in both companies going back some time, but to what degree she was involved, it is unclear.
What we do know is that the president of DVDSoon, Eric Guiard, is no longer involved with DVDSoon - suggesting that the original company did indeed collapse and was subsequently bought by DVDImport (or Canadian Distribution Services to be more precise). But there is nothing that confirms that legally DVSoon definately went bust, just "circumstantial evidence" if you like.

That is what gets me, DVDSoon just seem to be implementing the "cowboy builder" technique of claiming bankruptcy only to pop up again, fully functioning within no time at all! :x :?
