Outrageous International Shipping Costs - HMV and Zavvi (ex Virgin)


Ok - i'm not going to get much or any sympathy from UK residents - HOWEVER HMV and Zavvi's international shipping charges are OVER THE TOP !!

Even when comparing other stores - and other retailers in the US and Australia - these two are the worst.

4.50pds PER ITEM !! That's about $A10


The recent HDDVD sales here in Australia have been greatly appreciated (i'm sure) by UK purchasers - yet if we were to get treated to bargains at HMV we would be charged a small forture (ok - DOUBLE the price of the 4.93 HDDVD and then 4.50 for the shipping)

One wonders if HMV actually gets any international orders from us folk down under these days.

Have you considered that HMV maybe DON'T WANT to send items overseas? Maybe they are quite happy with the volume of business they receive from the UK.

Lets face it - DVDCrave/EzyDVD etc NEED business from international orders because Australia has such a small population. HMV, on the other hand, have a pool of 60 Million UK consumers to choose from - and in the UK, HMV are the number one entertainment retailer.

So, maybe they just don't want the hassle of international orders. Just a thought.

Though I have to say for us overseas ppl the postage is murder, and the packaging they use (zavvi) for international is some what ridiculous, a few sets i've ordered of Cadfael, all discs are rattling inside (out of the holders) and came in just padded bags.

Best so far is BlahDVD.
