OK, watch Stargate: Atlantis over on Sky 1 because it is lightweight and entertaining so last nights episode took me completely by surprise. It started off harmless enough with a dramatic lethal explosion followed by an irritating series of flashback sequences of the 'two hours earlier', 'six hours earlier' variety. This looked to be leading up to the usual anticlimactic revelation of how the explosion had taken place. Wrong ! It lead ultimately to the death of one of my favourite characters and I honestly did not see it coming. The flashbacks now had a proper context as they showed how virtually every other member of the cast could have prevented the death of this character by accepting an invitation. This was the first thought provocing episode of Stargate: Atlantis I have seen. I wonder what the Yanks will think when they get to see it ? We're currently seeing episodes of both Atlantis and SG-1 ahead of them much to the delight of Sky 1 I suspect.
So did anyone else see this last night ? Thoughts ?
I was also very suprised that they killed off one of the main characters, although it was a very good episode too. I was annoyed by the flashback scenes too but have to say it was probably the best way of getting the story across.
