One of the major faults with the previous seasons was the ridiculously slow pace of nearly every episode. Clearly, the powers that be decided to change that...by making it even slower complete with a few full-blown slow motion sequences just to drag it all out even further. I suspect this opening feature length may not have gone down too well in the States as it has the surviving humans taking on the role of the Iraqi population, complete with insurgents and suicide bombers to fight the Cyclon oppressors and the Cyclons in th eplace of the invading US forces complete with there version of Guantanamo Bay detention centre. For good measure they threw in a take on a famous scene towards the end of 'The Great Escape' involving trucks, a bunch of prisoners and some machine guns.
The dreadful amateur video shooting style has been retained but the varying over and under exposure sections have been emphasised more this time around along with the usual hand held camera shots and constant zooming in and out.
On the FX side, the metal cyclons are not too bad when they are stationary but when they walk or jog along things go to pieces with sliding feet and poor movement.
In case you hadn't guessed, I think this series stinks...but sad person that I am I will probably watch next week in the hope that the Cyclons finally see sense and bring the whole thing to an end by wiping out the remaining humans
