Carnivale - what happened?

OK so I just finished watching the second season last night (totally superb) and was looking on the net to see when the next series would be available only to find out it was cancelled!

Why did they cancel this show?? Just when it was getting good as well

Does anyone know if there is likely to be a reprieve at a future date or any books/films to be released?

Does Jonesey survive?
Is Brother Justin brought back to life?
Does Ben become like the new 'management'?
What happens between Sofie and Ben?

It was a slow burner for me and the second series is definitely compulsive viewing. I'm just stuck with all these questions that I want to know the answer to!

Thanks trace, I did do a search before posting but it came up with nothing

Such a wicked series, that thread is a year old and still no sign of a new season

I heard there we're gonna be a few spin-offs in the way firefly spawned Serenity to complete the story (should've been 6 seasons but were obviously too expensive to make :( ), but nothing's materialised as yet.

Such a shame to end a quality tv show with such an ending. So many questions.

Re: Carnivale - what happened?

I thought Carnivale was one of the best TV shows i'd watched for a very long time. It took me a good few episodes to really start enjoying it, but once I did it was absolutely superb. The first season was very good, but the 2nd season was even better, it was totally amazing, and as you mention Zoot, there is so many questions that were left unanswered at the end.

I do believe that brother Justin was brought back to life, that's the way I read into it that bit.

I was gutted when I found out they were axing it, apparantly it was costing somewhere around 2 Million Dollars per show and the network just wasn't getting the viewing figures to justify spending so much money on TV Show. It's a shame, I hope that's true about some spin-off's, but overall it would have been much better to see how the story turned out over the six seasons.
