Nice if you don't already have a PVR. Like the option to record HD (although that will eat your HDD space) and be able to port it to your PSP - brilliant. No more would I have weeks and weeks of the Gadget Show left unwatched.

Bit pricey for me at the moment though. Sub £50 and I'd be getting one.

Looks promising, but I agree it's a bit pricey at the moment. Will have to get one of those HD's littlesheepy recommended for this

Note that the above is false advertising at its worst. Sony have silently downgraded PlayTV and removed some of its most hyped functionality. In reality this "HD recorder" is unable to handle HD content - and it won't allow you to permanently store your recordings either.

We’re all excited about PlayTV’s launch next month, but would you be upset if we said that the PlayStation 3 telly tuner now won’t allow saved video to be copied to the PlayStation Portable, a PC or a Memory Stick?

In a double whammy of disappointment, Sony’s also confirmed that PlayTV won’t be compatible with HD signals.

Yeah, not quite so good value now without these features.

Hopefully they´ll reduce it very quickly or add the missing functionality.
