Definitely not good. I've put all thoughts of other HD DVD purchases on hold for the time being (so I bet I miss out on a load of bargains over the next few days).

Interesting note. I've just read through Play.coms returns policy and I suspect it breaks the DSR rules. On their Returns Policy page

they state:

"We cannot refund or exchange an opened item unless it is faulty, or if the item was sent to you through our error."

which is wrong under the DSR legislation. I shouldn't have a problem in any case as there is definitely something wrong with this player, even if it's only a loose screw that's still a fault. This has not been one of my better days

OK, I've just got off the phone to Play.com. They will be collecting the player on Monday and refunding me the purchase cost as they no longer stock the player and cannot provide a replacement. They will also be taking back the DVDs and refunding me...once they've actually arrived. So it looks like I wont be joining the HD-DVD set just yet. Never mind

Aww what a shame. At least you're getting a refund. Sure there'll be another offer soon, think Ibood have got another offer atm similar to the play.com one
