Worst cover versions

Following on from the best thread, thought it would be interesting to see what the worst cover versions were.

Ronan Keatings version of GooGoo Dolls - Iris

Re: Worst cover versions

Madonnas cover of American Pie.
Britney Spears cover of I love Rock and Roll.
Atomic Kitten destroying Blondies Tide is High.
No Doubts cover of It's my Life

I also hate the recent trend of taking my favourite classic 80's pop hits and turning them into some cheesy euro pop...Infernal destroying Laura Branigans Self Control and some other crap murdering Hall & Oates Out of Touch.

I have loads more I loathe but these ones are just off the top of my head.

Re: Worst cover versions

All Saints - Under The Bridge (RHCP)
Some horrible dance mix of Tori`s Me and A Gun. They should be killed for messing with it
Avril Lavigne - Fuel (Metallica)
KoRn - Word Up (Cameo) the original is arse anyway but the cover was so much worse

Re: Worst cover versions

To reverse the subject, and you may mock me on this one, but one cover version I was appalled by the first time I heard it was William Shatner's version of Pulp's Common People. After a couple of listens however, I reversed my opinion completely - I now think it is actually far better! Pulp's version actually sounds fairly sweet - completely at odds with the lyric.

I played a music buff friend Shatner's version, and he said he had never realised what an angry, bitter song it actually is until hearing that.

Both Shatner and Leonard Nimoy have produced some pretty awful covers in the past though!

I actually prefer it to the original and I hate Limp Bizkit. Fred Durst has a really punchable face

Re: Worst cover versions

It's not exactly a cover as she (attempted) to play it live, but Avril Lavigne - Chop Suey (SOAD)

I want to tear off her face and rub salt on
