Korean nutter watches popular Korean film - hold the front page!

So someone's gone through that Korean freak's DVD collection and found - GASP - a Korean film! A violent one with blood and everything in it! And a guy holding up a hammer!

BAN THIS SICK FILTH!*

* I'm talking about the Daily Star, by the way, not Oldboy.

It wasn't jsut that it was the fact he'd mailed video's and photos of himself in samey poses to Oldboy. Big deal though.

Still waiting for Marilyn Manson and Grand Theft Auto to take the blame for it as well.

What gets my goat is the gutter press snatching onto any resemblance to any kind of media entertainment, and how hypocritical they are about it.

"Sick nutter re-enacts scene from violent video game! Your children are not safe! Picket you local games shop! Write to your MP!

Now turn the page for your chance to win a spanking new PS3 and a copy of 'Kill Your Neighbours for Satan'!"

OK, I know how pointless this little rant is. Just sounding off. Grr.

At the end of the day it is linked. If no violent films were available, the deluded would never use that part of their brain and go so mental.
Its the same as the number of people who get into paedophilia etc because its available on the internet, but who would have never considered it had it not been available.

That said, there is no point banning it (the violent films taht is) because it spoils millions of peoples enjoyment because of a couple of nutters.
Its like banning baseball bats because a few people have used them on people, and therefore banning the sport.

Does anyone ever feel guilty or feel its morally wrong when watching horror or violent films though?

I don't feel guilty because I can seperate reality from fiction (most of the time ) the problem is when folk can't do this and believe its really happening.

Saying that, that means 18 million+ people in the uk are nutters as they believe Eastenders and Coronation street are real characters! ...we're all doomed!

Re: Korean nutter watches popular Korean film - hold the front page!

I can't say I enjoy watching such things, but if the point of the movie (or whatever) is to make you feel a gut reaction, good or bad, pretty or ugly, then such scenes can be justified.

I don't agree watching or playing violent games MAKE people mental. They've got to be mental in the first place and, if that's the case, ANYTHING can push them over the edge. be it a scene in a movie or a verse from the bible.

Homer, you're spot on. It terrifies me to think of all the people who consider soap characters are real people.

The reason i ask is i was sat watching the Texas chainsaw massacre the beginning the other night, when i started to question myself about watching such a horror,i thought theres just no meaning to this kind of film is there? surely this isn't entertainment?

Re: Korean nutter watches popular Korean film - hold the front page!

Did your heart beat faster at certain points of the movie? Were your palms sweaty? Did you feel connected to the characters and what they were going through? If the answer's yes to any of these you had a valid enough reason for watching it.

I've never seen this film, but I do watch some horror films and, if they're successful, they can evoke feelings of dread, anxiety and - if you're watching a good one - genuine fear. Then when it's finished you turn the lights on and have a nice cup of tea, thinking 'Rather them than me!'.

Of course, if you watch horror films just to see people getting chopped up, and you're sitting there chuckling like Beavis or Butthead, it's probably time for the nice men with the big butterfly nets to pay you a visit.
