Re: Guillermo Del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth
The backdrop is very integral to the film. Franco's fascist regime in Spain sets the films tone and brings forward the father character as being a sadistic army type. The innonnce of the girl and the magical world are good binary opposites to the Civil War and the warn torn landscape. This is Del Toro's most powerful film, he says its his most personal, looking forward to this for sure!
