I don't care what all the negative reviews say I LOVED IT. The opening credits toook my breath away, goosebumps, the works.
I'm so glad you liked it MG. I'm going tomorrow, but I have a good feeling.

I was actually going to say earlier that, ever since I heard that they would be using the old theme and, I gather, the old credits style, whatever the rest of the film is like, I know thats going to be a goosebump moment - exactly the word I was going to post yesterday. I'll probably choke up at the Christpher Reeve dedication too, although apparently they've hidden it rather, in the middle of the credits. :?

I've heard that there is a rather unfortunate scene with 2 dogs though. The one thing I can't handle in a film is anything happening to animals. I know its hopelessly warped, but I can watch Hostel etc without batting an eye, but if I know an animal is going to get it I literally leave the cinema for a few minutes.

Back to Superman, I think they made an ENORMOUS blunder opening it one week either before or after POTC. Many places just don't have enough big screens to accomodate both, and I think POTC is more "of this generation". I've never believed in blockbuster season, its a self fulfilling prophecy to me (of course the big films make more money in summer - thats when most get released!) but the 1 week gap in this case is just madness. I truely believe SR would have been (seen to be) a huge hit if released at even a slightly quieter time, instead of now being seen rather as an also ran, apparently throwing a sequel into doubt.

Grambax, I don't like animal cruelity either and I am a big animal lover but the scene you are talking doesn't actually show you an animal getting hurt and I did laugh so don't worry.

Thanks MG - I can relax and enjoy it now! I am such a softie...

I'll let you all know how it goes tonight. I'm taking my Mom and Dad, who are very frail now, but as they took me to the first night of Superman The Movie, it only seems fitting...

I think that's very true, my local cinema has almost twice as many showings of Pirates of the Caribbean each day next week, than Superman.

Just seen Hostel.

I am wondering how best to describe it, without giving away the "plot". I guess you can call it a modern Friday the 13th, except here Jason isn't a fictional monster from the bowels of a lake, but the monster that rests inside. Oh and they changed the formula a bit. In Friday the 13th it's sex - gore - sex - gore - almost sex and drugs - more gore. Here it's a massive concentration (almost softcore porn) and then a big pile of gore to finish it off (oops I gave away the "plot").

The film itself is not scary, the idea is scary. Coupled with human nature and the capitilasm entering the eastern block, this could very well be more than fiction. Anyways, kept me entertained, in a sick a twisted way. I wouldn't recommend watching this with ANY family members around

From Russia with Love

One of the best...tight story and action...doesn't rely on gadgets that much.

Sound was pretty good...I think I was expecting a lot more...but I had just watched the first half hour of goldeneye!

You can't just magically create more channels of sound I guess...there were times when it was well executed though.

The helicopter scene near the end especially.

Can't complain at all about the visuals...lowry digital have come up trumps once again!

Probably take me 18 years to watch all of the features though
