Wall-e - Best/Cutest film i've seen in a good while. Couple of bits had me very close to tears and in the next minute, was snorting with laughter. Already have the action figure :)
9/10 will be buying this on DVD/Bluray/whatever format is cool at the time

Just got back from watching - Batman Dark Knight:
Totally awsum film heath ledger should win an oscar for his performance (I know he's no longer with us but he should still get one) big shoes to fill after Jack Nicholson but he def pulls it off if not better! The rest of the cast were also great in there roles. Visualy stunning with atmospheric sound track this lot have made one damn good film! prob best film of the year along with cloverfield I recon they even out did Batman Begins! didn't feel 2 1/2 hours either at all. 10/10

The Dark Knight..

Stunning....

A lot has been said of Heath Ledger, so much so the hype got to a point that his performance could never match the hype, but it does and then some. Dont get me wrong its not 'the Heath Ledger show' there are fantastic performances all round but Ledgers Joker is chilling, easily as good as Nicholson in the shining or Hopkins in Silence of the lambs. Nicholsons Joker was a camp OTT comic character, but it matched Tim Burtons Batman vision, Nolans Batman is as it should be, a grim dark atmospheric tale and Ledgers Joker is evil personified. I admit when I first read the news of Heath Ledger getting the role I wasnt exactly jumping for joy, I thought hes a great actor, but is he the Joker? when I saw a sneak pic of the make up I thought Hmmm is that the Joker? but the character and the look suit the film perfectly. Its a terrible shame we wont see the Joker in a recurring role as it seems was intended as I just cant see anyone else stepping into Ledgers shoes. Its very posible that some footage of Ledger still exists from cut scenes to be able his to make an appearance in later films or for him to have an apprentice working for him 'Harley Quinn' possibly?

Ok enough of Heath Ledger....

Id read a review saying it was overlong and had too many complicated plot twists, all I can say is that reviewer must have watched a different film to me as the 2 1/2 hour runtime flashed by and there were no complicated or unwanted plot twists, its a complex story in parts yes, but it all gels well into a complete film. The mobile phone 'bat-o-vision' was a bit daft and the Bat-Bike which looks like the most unstable vehicle ever made zooming about the city was slightly OTT but still didnt spoil my enjoyment. Soild performances by Caine, Oldman, Freeman and Eckhart, Harvey Dents fall played brilliantly by Eckhart, and I have a sneaky feeling we might not have seen the last of him. Maggie Gyllenhaal, replaces Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes and does a good job, its always a shame when a role is recast but in this case the character loses very litle, to be honest I didnt really care, rachel plays a pivitol role in the film but shes not a 'major' character. Lucius Fox makes an interesting comment at one point when Bruce asks him if his new batsuit will protect him from dogs Lucius replies 'it should protect you from cats' weather its an 'in joke' or a reference to a future villain is unclear. Bale as with 'Batman Begins' plays the role better than anyone before him, his Bruce Wayne is charming if not arrogant, and his Batman is mean broody and the perfect 'Dark Knight'

Easily my film of the year

Saw The Dark Knight this afternoon.

Awesome stuff and as everyone else says Heath steals every scene he is in, shame we won't see more of this. Only bad point for me was Bale's Batmans voice, it didn't seem as odd in Batman Begins.

RIP Heath

5/5

Went to see WALL:E last night with the kids.

Excellent. I thought I'd hate it, but it surprised me. I'd certainly buy it on blu ray.

I'd give it:

Sex and the City

Quite a good film version of a TV show. Tied up lots of loose ends from the TV show even if some of it was predictable and a bit weak in plot.

7/10

Needed a bit of cheering up so went to see Wall-E today. Great film, very entertaining. I thought it was much better than the previous two, Ratatouille and Cars. Though I have to say that for sheer laugh out loud fun, the little 5 minute short that came on first starring a Magician, his white rabbit, two hats and a carrot was almost worth the price of admission on its own

One word of warning though, a young boy and his mum sat behind me left shortly before Wall-E left the Earth on a rocket because the youngster had become completely bored and fed up with the lack of on-screen action up to that point. Another five minutes and he would have been happy he stayed but before that it may come across as slow and dull to youngsters with the attention span of a knat

Completely agree about the first I'd say 20 mins, my youngest daughter wanted to leave and as soon as they left earth she watched the rest of the film without complaining

Yeah, I think adults seem to enjoy the first 20 minutes while kids like the silly bits in the middle.

Although to be honest, there were no "bad" parts to the movie - only varying degrees of excellence. The middle part was just slightly "less excellent" than the beginning and end.
