I saw Bridge to terabathis today, not that it's overly my kind of film. Simple childrens fantasy story, nothing exciting.. then BOOM, turns majorly depressing through till the end. I liked this twist, it added to the film, but surely not the best thing to have if you've taken your kids to see it got it for them for xmas and they're sitting crying by the end

I would have thought the wife would have loved this movie due to the scene with will smith working out which was blaitantly only put in there for the female viewers.

Saw I Am Legend last night. Great film but found it so depressing.

Watched over the last few days

Rise of the Footsoldier
Based on a true story so it's an interesting journey with some quite shockingly bad acting and dialogue from the non-recognised actors. Worth a watch though. 7/10

The Seeker
An ok kids good v evil fantsy in real world affair 7/10

Nacho Libre
Utter garbage, total waste of 90 minutes of my life. 1/10

Over Christmas I saw "Enchanted". It was surprisingly good, to be honest - predictable and cheesy dialogue, but the cast carried it off well. Obviously a kids film, but with enough grown-up humour to make it watchable.

7/10.

Just got back from "Bee Movie". Again, quite well done, although the plot felt a bit rushed and cobbled together. However, the voice cast do a super job of dragging it all back together (with the exception of Chris Rock, who I can't stand anyway). The animation is light years behind Pixar, but then again so is all other animation these days.

7/10.

Watched Mr Magoriums Wonder Emporium last night and although not a Christmas film it's a joyful little film thats ideal to watch at Christmas with the kids or on your own with your other half whilst munching on some choccies and glass of Baileys. Over far too quickly though. A must see. 9/10
Watched this a couple of days ago, and have to agree, I thought it was a wonderful little film, although the ending seemed to not end how I was expecting (thought Mahoney would play her first), but I think one I shall be picking up on DVD.

Ratatouille

Pixar, sorry Disney Pixar's latest release is not so much for the kids anymore with the content not being so "kiddish" i.e not lots of slapstick humour and then jokes that would go over kids heads, more of a "proper" film aimed at an older audience and very verygood it was too.

9.5/10

Would I buy it?
Yes

The King Of Kong

Documentary film about the battle for the World Record on Donkey Kong. Started off thinking it was going to be very geeky and rubbish, which for the first 20 minutes or so it is. Then it gets going and shows how cliquey the organisation (Twin Galaxies) that verifies and maintains records are. The current holder Billy Mitchell is very odd indeed unlike the challenger Steve Wiebe.

Compelling viewing that turns into a "good" v "evil" battle.

Intriguing to watch whether you have an interest in video games or not.

9/10
Would I ?
Yes

Saw 2
Decent follow up to the original, seems to borrow ideas from Cube though.

7/10
Would I recommend to buy it?
Only as a completist fan of the series.

No Country for Old Men

I won't include spoilers, but I just have to say as a huuuuuuuge Coen's fan I am fully behind them once again.
After the disappointments of things like the ladykillers and intolerable crueltly they are fully back to form.
A definite 5 out of 5 film for me for a number of reasons.
Firstly the film is completely beautiful...roger deakins is a god in his profession and no one has quite captured the lovely texas vistas this well for a number of years.
Secondly the film is so uncoventional that things like plotting, narrative and resolution are not handled in the way conventions say they have to be.
Thirdly the cast is once again superb. Bardem is one of my faves and his chigurh was absolutley great to watch (in a psychopathic way though) and josh brolin is getting some sweeeeet parts nowadays. But the highlight is definite TLJ...all those crap efforts of the 80's/90's are forgotten (under siege i'm looking at you!). He is on another level with this perfomance (and three burials)...oscar...oscar...oscar

Joel and Ethan - I loves ya!
