Watched Cry Baby last night

A bit like Grease only darker and it was worth it getting to see Johhny Depp sing and dance (although Im not sure if he was actually singing). The hottest looking I have ever seen Mr Depp.

Oh, I love that film, havent seen the remake (although I dont really want to either as hate the Hollywood fascination of remaking a perfectly good film :? !)

Now gonna have to try and get the original!
and ordered, damn you Blunty you just cost me £3.50 by reading this thread!!! Ordered from Filmnight using the 1.50 voucher for £3.45!

Sorry!

It wasn't what I was expecting, but it was great.

Watched Empire Strikes back as well last night...still good

United 93

Great achievement I think...I was expecting to see a corny patriotic mess of a film but what I got felt suprisingly honest.
I still don't dig the nypdblue/greengrass camera though!

At the Edinburgh Festival I saw Night Listener, a new drama/thriller with Robin Williams and Toni Collette. I liked it a lot, but its difficult to comment on without possibly saying too much. I will say however, that I saw the trailer for the first time the following night (its always strange to see the film first) and it is VERY misleading - makes the film look like a much more traditional horror/chiller, when in fact its really a drama with an unsettling atmosphere and some thriller elements. This might help explain why some people vehmently hate this film on the IMDb. The directors previous film, The Business of Strangers, might give a better idea of what to expect. And why the Americans seem to have such a tough time understanding Night Listener's ending I just don't understand - if anything it's too revealing. But the film is well worth catching when it opens in a few weeks - just approach it with an open mind (and perhaps try to find out as little about it in advance as possible).

Also saw Almodovar's latest, Volver. I quite enjoyed it but didn't feel it was one of his best. I prefer his darker work, while this felt a little uneven and long to me (although some hail it a masterpiece, so don't take my word for it.[/quote]

CDwow were doing the directors cut of Cry Baby a few months ago for about 4.99 or something but was cheapest price it had been for a long while (might have been for the R1) I still havent got round to watching it again but might give it a whirl some night this week!

Speaking of Johnny Depp just back from seeing Pirates of The Caribbean 2, he was great in this although poor Kiera Knightly was a bit redundant in it! Have to say though it was way too long, for me it started to get a bit Dances with Wolves'ish in the middle....will it ever end!!!

Its a combination I wouldnt have ever imagined happening in a film, big fan of Toni Collette's though, will have to keep an eye out for this.
