I thought it was a good start to the new season..**spoilers**
To be fair I didnt expect any answers, Ive grown to expect more questions than answers anyhow...Have you been watching the mini episodes on the web? thay have given a few hints to some answers including a huge hint/posible answer to flight 815 and the revelation theres a flight 815 at the bottom of the ocean with no survivors...info on the black rock etc
We now know 3 of the people who will leave the island and that things aint great for any of em , that theres a shady 'agency' of some kind following/harassing them, that the Jack/Kate flash forward was many months possible years in the future as Jack in this episode seemed quite calm with being 'back in reality' and nothing like the unhinged bearded, suicidal mess he was in the finale of season 3.
This episode didnt advance the story much, just realy confirmed what we knew, that the ones on the boat aint who they said they were, Jack is a knob and Locke is the one who has things under control. it will be interesting what happens with the islands new arrival and the circumstances that lead to Jack, Kate and the others (no pun intended) leaving

Great to have Lost back even if its only 8 episodes...gonna have to check out those web episodes your referring to there Lionel...I love all sub-plots and so on even 4 series on!
I thought the series opener was good...not one of the strongest and given that there's only a short run, it didnt add much but the previews for next week look excellent.
Not to sure what to make of the whole Jacob in the cabin stuff and apparently that was Jacks dad Hurley saw in the cabin which confuses the even more ...but the rest of Hurley scenes in the instituion and son on...absolutely stole the show.
Good stuff.

it was a pretty good start to the series, loads of new questions though. It was Christian that Hurley saw in Jacob`s Shack. Also who are the Oceanic Six ?, we know that 3 of them are Hurley, Kate and Jack but who are the other 3. It`s been implied by Desmond that Claire and Aaron get off the island, and Michael and Walt are supposedly off the island although in the credits for ep1 it listed Harold Perrineau so it looks like Michael may not be gone unless I missed him in the flash forwards

also someone who got off died - but who? i think many said Locke or Ben.
With Kate, Jack, Claire, Aaron and Hurley - that would be the 6.
Shame then as people like Sayid, Desmond, Sawyer, Jin, Sun and baby etc wont make if off then?
But in the flash forward at the end of S3 - didnt jack say to kate ''where is he?'' which i thought would be Sawyer - so more than 6 have been thought to get off, but only 6 do - so maybe claire and aaron dont make it, but desmond does?
ah well, we will find out in 2 years :)

Ive read the ones to leave the island are Jack Kate Hurley Sun and Jin, with the 'contents' of the coffin still a mystery (that would make 6, if the person in the coffin is one of the losties...) Locke or Ben would make sense with nobody turning up and Jack going as 'neither friend or family'
Im downloading it as I have since season 2 as I dont have sky tv :) (its on in America on Thursday, so I download it while Im at work and watch it on Friday night) Ive only ever seen about 4 episodes on tv as I bought the R1 season 1 boxset after the first couple of episodes on Ch4, downloaded then bought season 2 and the same with season 3
Yeah Harold Perrineau was listed in the opening credits, but I must have missed him if he was there, gonna watch it again and see, I did see Charlie had a message written on his hand just before he smashed the glass in the police station while Hurley was watching the tape, for those who cant be bothered to check (or are not as geeky as me lol) it said 'they need you'

I didn't really like it.
I think the whole "off the island" story line has spoilt it for me.

I don't like the off island stuff either, so hopefully they'll get back just in time for the island to blow up and kill everyone

You make an assumption that the person in the coffin is someone who was previously on the island... It could be someone we haven't met yet, particularly since there is likely to be more flash-forwards now.
And if I remember correctly, Desmond only said to Charlie that he saw Claire and Aaron get ONto the helicopter, so there's no proof that they actually get off the island...
