Freeview HD

Not specifically movies but didn't seem to directly fit in to any other forum either.

Superb. I was toying with getting SkyHD - I may now just wait and get HD on freeview.

Yes, I've been looking at getting more HD content to watch. Patience is a virtue.

Sh*te!

Viewers will have to wait until analogue TV is switched off in their area before they can see the HD channels. The last regions to change to all-digital signals, in 2012, will be London, the north-east of England and Northern Ireland.

That means I have to wait until 2012! Bugger that. I'll get Sky.

"A new set top box" - that makes the HD Freeview tv (and freeview boxes/recorders) I've got useless for this then unless they can enable them via Firmware upgrades.

More great planning. Get everyone to buy boxes/tv's to get onto Freeview, then when most people have tell them to watch HD they will have to buy another load of equipment.

Sadly technology is just moving so fast at the moment that people are churning out 'standards' that aren'tthought out far enough just to try and keep up with the advance. HD is the new thing but japan is already working on super-HD so how long is that going to last? It's no longer buying technology for the longterm, it's all to do with how uptodate you want to be.

I'm pretty sure it'll only be a small few HD channels on freeview, so it's probably worh getting the skyHD in the longrun. I'd say Freeview HD is more a ploy try make sure Freeview isn't outdated by the time most channels on cable/sky have moved to HD broadcasting.
