OK, received this last night, but only had about 15 minutes to set it up and play before I had to leave to drive to Glasgow.
First impressions?
Whats Good
Picture quality is quite simply stunning, it's noticably better than my XBOX360 HD-DVD drive was. I put on "Transformers" and the quality is amazing.
Upscaling - WOW. What can I say? I put on "The Day After Tomorrow", and the picture was stunning - I couldn't tell the difference between the upscaled DVD and an HD-DVD picture. Totally impressed.
What's Not So Good
Front LCD - I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the front LCD panel is a little basic. I think maybe I was hoping for something a little more "starship enterprise" like.
Not multi region - and considering I have a substantial collection of R1 and R3 disks, this ain't so good.
Noiser than expected - you can clearly hear the motor spinning, which is a bit off-putting. Although once the film starts, it is not noticable and is CERTAINLY much quieter then the XBOX360 HD-DVD drive.
Boot up time for disks is quite lengthy - I haven't yet timed it, but it seemed to say "LOADING" for quite some time before the film actually started.
