Good news for PS3 owners!

Firmware 2.20 is now available, which adds profile 2.0 capabilities to your PS3 Blu-ray player.

• BD Live content
• Resume Play on DVD or Blu-ray - even if the disk is removed
• Additional PSP functionality
• Ability to play AVI and WMV files greater than 2GB
• + more

This became available last week but there are downsides - lots of reports of stuff not now being viewable from media servers - something I've noticed - especially vob files.

If only they'd add the ability to read external NTFS devices the PS3 would be much more versatile.

Are there any other key features to the new firmware? I haven't downloaded it yet (haven't even switched on any of the consoles for a month or so)

i have a japanese ps3, is there anyway of unlocking it to allow me to play uk ps2 games and dvds?

Timdibs - the Jap PS3 outputs at NTSC so I think you are out of luck with games (have a look at Play-Asia as I think they list Region Free games) but you should be ok with the DVDs so long as your TV takes NTSC input.

Have you tried any UK R2 DVDs in it? And games?

nuts! tried games like god of war 2 to no joy! im not going to purposefully buy new ps2 games, just had a load!

will try a dvd tonight so fingers crossed!
