The good news is mainly of interest to PS3 owners. The new Blu-ray 2.0 spec is being launched very soon and the latest revision to the PS3 BIOS will include and in turn enable a lot of new features:

The bad news is that since the Format War came to an end, the price of Blu-ray players has been on the increase, at least in the States:

Such is life. However, with the recent drop in price of the XBox360 to less than the cost of a Nintendo Wii I can't help thinking that Sony will have to drop the price of the PS3 or their sales are going to just evaporate, i.e. XBox360 £160, Wii £180 PS3 £299 (obviously, these are full RRP) which one does the cash strapped Parent buy ?
