Anime Bargains

Feeling bad about making all these threads with 0 replies. Anime just doesn't have a huge fanbase in the UK, only the Ghibli films getting any real atention. This thread will at least stop me flooding the forum with multiple topics.

Please post all Japanimation (Ghibli films included) in this thread in future. Fair enough if you don't want to do so, just thought it'd be more tidy this way.

Re: Anime Bargains

I've gone for madlax, no idea what it is but t that pice it'd be rude not to nicely spotted. It's a shame adv can't script their site though and the checkout didn't show fully in Opera forcing use of IE *spit* but I see there might be other cheap random things on the site so I'm gonna have a browse about ;)

Re: Anime Bargains

Most of the stuff on offer is out of stuck, only the Madlax DVD's listed really being in-stock. Annoyed I didn't spot it until most of the stuff had gone... :(

You can get volume 1 of Madlax for £5 at most places. Volume 7, like 2-6, is £11 everywhere.

Re: Anime Bargains

Yes a shame it wasn't spotted earlier as a few of theothers looked good too, but if Madlax comes it'll be good enough ;) I couldn't resist Gun Crazy either for a pound as well as that terrible looking comedy for a pound. Only top quality goods pass through my doors ;)

Re: Anime Bargains

Even I couldn't bring myself to order those crappy looking live-action movies.

Have a couple more bargains for you guys before I go:

Elfen Lied: Volume 1 - £5.99
Elfen Lied: Volume 2 - £5.99
Elfen Lied: Volume 3 - £5.99
Elfen Lied: Volume 4 - £5.99

The next best price for all of the above is £13.47. Not a bad find, eh? Ordered for myself.

Also, the best price for the Elfen Lied box set (including all of the above) is a rather stupid £37.99.

Re: Anime Bargains

I really enjoyed Elfen Lied. Some nice OTT violence!

I didn't bother with Madlax as it seemed to be a successor to Noir, which was a pile of dull, portentious crud with a shocking amount of recycled footage. Although I stand to be corrected . . . anyone?

Noir is absoloutely brilliant. If Madlax is anything like it I'll be very happy indeed.

However good or bad it is, you aren't losing much for £2 each. Anime will NEVER drop that low in price over here outside of mis-prices and stock clearance. I'm still annoyed no-one shared this (on anime forums) just after they ordered everything they wanted, leaving me (assuming my order arrives) without the start and end of the series for cheap - They were probably all too busy stocking up on fleabay merchandise...

Anyway, the next two list of links are from the same £5.99 HMV sale the Elfen Lied DVD's linked to above are from. Was too tired to post them all when I was last able to post.

Neon Genesis Evangelion - Platinum Series:
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Platinum Series: Vol.1 - £5.99
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Platinum Series: Vol.2 - £5.99
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Platinum Series: Vol.3 - £5.99
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Platinum Series: Vol.4 - £5.99
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Platinum Series: Vol.5 - £5.99
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Platinum Series: Vol.6 - £5.99
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Platinum Series: Vol.7 - £5.99

Next best = 1 at £9.97 (£11.42 inc P&P), 2 at £12.99, 4 at £13.45

The only Platinum box set released in the UK is the retardly over-priced 'Premium' box set, which includes the exact same DVD's above for around £75-100, the extra price being for a shiny tin you get free with it - Great value. We should be seeing a normal Platinum box set soonish (no release date set), but it'll most likely sell for around £40-50 in a crappy M-lock case...like justabout every other UK anime box set.

Chrono Crusade:
Chrono Crusade - Vol.1: A Plague of Demons - £5.99
Chrono Crusade - Vol.2: Holy War - £5.99
Chrono Crusade - Vol.3: The World, the Flesh and the Devil - £5.99
Chrono Crusade - Vol.4: The Devil to Pay - £5.99
Chrono Crusade - Vol.5: Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea - £5.99
Chrono Crusade - Vol.6: Devil's Advocate - £5.99
Chrono Crusade - Vol.7: Hellfire - £5.99

Next best = 4 at £9.89, 1 at £9.99 2 at £13.45

As the UK 7-disc box set looks like it's going to be hit with the usual anime over-pricing policy when it comes out, I'd recommend ordering the DVD's seperatly to avoid getting a crappy M-lock case for your money. Or, if you wanted to go one step further, order the wonderful looking 5-disc R1 box set for £20-25 and pray you don't get slapped by customs.

There's one or two more series worth listing from the HMV £5.99 sale, but I'm too lazy to list any I haven't watched myself. Go take a look for yourself.

Naruto Uncut: Series 1 - Vol.2 Box Set (3 Discs) - £6.99

Next best price = £7.99

Re: Anime Bargains

Noooo, why must you post so many of these? Why all in one go? Whyyy?

Not that I'm not ordering these though.... Did anyone else not get a confirmation email from the Madlax ones by the way? I've just noticed I don't have one, and am a bit worried I've messed up and will miss out.

Re: Anime Bargains

Unless you have an endless amount of cash to throw at anime, I'd recommend just ordering the Madlax and Elfen Lied DVD's for now, they represent the best value for money based on current single DVD/ box set prices.

ADV don't do the email thing. I sent them an email to ask if my order had gone through on Thursday or Friday; they haven't got back to me. Someone who managed to order all 7 (and forgot to share the prices then...) said he received his after 10 days, with no emails sent to him.
