Dr Who - New Series 3

Much better introduction to a new companion than 'Rose' in season 1. Thoroughly enjoyed it and, after watching the final series of clips at the end of Dr Who Confidential over on BBC3, definitely looking forward to the rest of the series. Er...with one possible exception. I am definitely not looking forward to the soap opera segments featuring the new companion's family They will be on a par with the 'Wesley Crusher' episodes of Star Trek TNG...unless they systematically kill them all off one at a time over the series starting with the blonde bimbo

It will be interesting to find out the ratings for this one.

Re: Dr Who - New Series 3

I liked it

There were some good lines too, I liked the one about the "motorcycle" aliens being from plant Zovirax.

I know what you mean about the family Qexit, but I have faith in Russell T Davis (hopefully) avoiding the obvious, dull jokes..

I was hoping after Rose going 'home' the new companion wouldnt come with the baggage of a family we would have to visit every bloody week, for a Timelord who can travel in time and space he sure likes one particular estate in Cardif ..er sorry 'London' and I can see the same thing happening this series with almost every storyline involving her family in some way :|

Apart from that it was an enjoyable episode, a good introduction for the doctors new companion and a great start to the new series

yea i agree with you. i would like him to actually visit some other planets in this series. its either earth, earth in a different time or a parallel earth. he visits the odd space station..but thats it. and bringing back the daleks for every series is a bit like overkill i think. dont get me wrong i love the series .
i was listening to russell t davies on the j.ross radio show, he said that he's already got the stories for the next series, just got to get them scripted...has anyone heard the rumour about tenant leaving in the middle of the next series.....and what will the cliffhanger be at the end of this one?

Not going to comment on the story lines which I have managed to studiously avoid so far....and this isn't a spoilers thread ! If you really want to find out and discuss them visit :

http://www.drwho-online.co.uk/

and/or start a new spoilers thread on this forum....please

Just saw on teletext that the BBC reckon last nights episode pulled in an average of 8.2 million viewers which is more than the first episode of season 2, so I suspect a few champagne corks were popped in the production offices this evening

I personally thought it was a good introduction for the new assistant but I thought the episode was very poor indeed with a paper thin plot.

This half Dalek half geezer thing, it's not permanent is it? I couldn't bare for the Daleks to be like this forever
