First off I'm not having a go at you.

I'm interested in what stops you from doing that and getting a decent wage now?

What in your opinion is a decent wage and for doing what job / hours per week?

but what about those with a mental illness - what happens to them? as they are physically able to work, but do you want a schizo as a lolly pop man?

its looking at getting those that can work into work with as much help as they can get. i work for benefits so get to hear all kinds of stories everyday, like i cant stand to work but i could work in an office so its those types of people they're looing at really. there are far too many people who now make a living off state benefits. it can be a bit gauling hearin off a customer that they are getting more money than i earn and still wanting more because its not enough for them to live off, they get their rent/mortgage interest paid and council tax paid for them!?

Incapacity is being phased out in September/October, it is being renamed Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), ESA will also replace Income Support paid on the grounds of Incapacity.

From what I remember existing Incap customers will stay on it with but any new Incapacity Benefits claimants
will be subjected to medical tests to determine their capacity for employment rather than focus on their incapacity, with only full-time carers and the most disabled being exempted from finding work.

As someone who also works in Benefits (Income Support) I welcome the change.

well right now it seems no matter what job i go for i get knocked back. im just looking at admin jobs really, and id want to be working full time and getting £6+ per hour.

i dont want to be a litter picker or anything like that, but if i had to, i would. but only if i was getting at least double of the standard JSA that im on now £60 per week. i wouldnt be picking litter 40 hours a week for £60 thats for sure.

You would have no choice. That's the whole point.

But anyway, just keep plugging away and I'm sure you'll get lucky. Maybe if you learn to speak Polish and change your name to an Eastern European one, you'd probably have more luck.

I'm all for the shakeup to try and get the lazy bums back into work.... but I honestly don't see how it's gonna work. The people who are actually trying to find jobs are finding it difficult enough because supply outstrips demand... how is an extra influx of the people who don't want jobs trying to find them going to get any? They'll just be creating jobs specifically to get these people into work and make the figures look good, which will ultimately be costing the government money surely?

On a side note, Canada appears to have more jobs than people willing to work, so I think I'm going to move out there to find something better easier ;)
