It also has to do with how you hook it up to your TV/receiver. I find that optical connection gives a good signal (audio level wise too). Some receivers have individual settings for each channel (mine does). Make sure you set those right as well. If it's a scart connection, the sound is usually low. Don't know how to get around that.
